What are the news at JEVATEC GmbH?

     Three ATMION® sensors. One controller.

“Why do I actually need a separate controller for each ATMION®?”
We’ve been asked this question time and time again.

With the JEVAmet® VCU active, we’ve now developed a compact solution to this problem:
Up to three ATMION® wide-range vacuum gauges can be operated and displayed simultaneously using just one controller.

This reduces hardware requirements, cabling, rack space, integration effort… and ultimately saves costs.

Features such as leak rate display, data logging and analogue and digital interfaces further expand the range of applications. Integration with SweepMe! and an available LabVIEW driver facilitate integration into existing measurement systems.

Funded Project Thüringen Verbund Dynamik - Brilliant Ion Sources (BIS)

Project title: Brilliant Ion Sources – Hardware implementation for a variable LMIS (BIS-JEVA)
Funding programme: ERDF programme 2021-2027
Funding period: 01/05/2026 – 30/04/2027
Funding code: 2025 VDY 0065

Description:
The project aims to develop a high-performance liquid metal ion source (LMIS) for research into high-intensity laser physics, highly charged ions and experiments on ion accelerators. It is divided into three parts: 1) the development of a cost-effective, versatile LMIS. 2) The testing of LMIS in electron beam ion traps (EBITs) for the study and production of highly charged ions, and 3) the use of LMIS as brilliant ion sources for generating collimated ion beams for studies involving intense laser fields.
JEVATEC’s sub-project is establishing the technical infrastructure required for the manufacture and operation of variable liquid metal ion sources. This applies in particular to the reproducible manufacture of ion emitters, the development of a mobile, electrical control system for the sources (high-voltage supply), the ion-optical design of the sources, and their adaptation for applications in strong-field laser physics at Friedrich Schiller University Jena and heavy-ion research at Helmholtz Institute Jena.

The project, which was funded by the Free State of Thuringia, was co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

Funded Project Thüringen Verbund - UHV fused silica cells for quantum computing (QUAGK)

Project title: Development of vacuum flanges with a transition to fused silica and testing of glass joints for suitability in ultra-high vacuum
Funding programme: ERDF programme 2021-2027
Funding period: 01/01/2026 – 31/12/2028
Funding code: 2025 VDE 0093

Description:
The QUAGK project is investigating the manufacture of large-format fused silica cells for ultra-high vacuum applications. Various approaches to creating temperature-stable metal-glass interfaces are to be developed using a modular principle. In addition, special glasses for bonding to fused silica and the joining processes are being developed. The machining required to achieve a surface quality suitable for joining is being investigated and plates are being bonded to fused silica cells using various joining technologies. Another work package is the development of anti-reflective yet conductive internal coatings.

The project, which was funded by the Free State of Thuringia, was co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

New to our portfolio – high vacuum angle valves with control electronics XLS-RE

As an experienced manufacturer of control electronics for electromagnetic high-vacuum angle valves, we are taking the next step:

We are now expanding our portfolio to include the XLS-RE series valves in flange sizes DN16KF and DN25KF. This enables us to offer our customers an even more comprehensive solution – high-quality technology, perfectly coordinated and now available directly from a single source. Benefit from tested quality, short delivery times and our many years of expertise.

New: Integration of Our Vacuum Controllers into SweepMe!

Our vacuum controllers JEVAmet® VCU and JEVAmet® VCU active are now fully integrated into the SweepMe! measurement software developed by SweepMe! GmbH in Dresden. Via the serial RS232 interface, our devices can be directly controlled within SweepMe!, allowing you to conveniently record, visualize, and analyze measurement data – all through a single, user-friendly interface.

A key advantage: Both the software and the required drivers are available to our customers completely free of charge as part of the already feature-rich basic version.

SweepMe! offers a continuously growing library of device drivers, enabling the integration of various measurement instruments – ideal for complex setups in laboratories, R&D, or quality assurance.

This is how SweepMe! describes its software:

Control your instruments, automate your measurements, and analyze your data with SweepMe! – a multi-tool measurement software. You can create procedures in short time via drag&drop of modules in a tree-like sequencer tool. Any instrument can be added via an open interface by using the Python programming language. Drivers of already implemented devices are used and shared across all users.

We are confident that this integration will provide real added value for many users of our vacuum controllers. You’ll find further information and a setup guide on the SweepMe! website – or feel free to contact us directly.
